Latest news on the peregrine falcons
13 May 2025

Two peregrine falcon chicks are currently being cared for by their parents on the Cathedral spire.
Three peregrine falcon chicks had hatched on the spire in early May but sadly the Hawk and Owl Trust reported that the youngest chick died on Tuesday 13 May.
The first chick had hatched in the early hours of Saturday 3 May, the second at about 5am on Sunday 4 May, and the third at about 1pm on Monday 5 May. A fourth egg laid this year is no longer expected to hatch.

Norwich Cathedral’s spire has been home to peregrine falcons for many years and the Hawk and Owl Trust do a great job of keeping people up to date with the latest peregrine news, including running a live stream of the peregrines from their nesting box on the spire.

The Hawk and Owl Trust's watchpoint has also returned to the Cathedral Close to give people the opportunity to find out more about the peregrine falcons.
The watchpoint will be open three days a week until the end of June. The days the watchpoint is open will vary each week and the latest information about the dates you can visit the watchpoint will be posted on the Hawk and Owl Trust’s website.

The first of this year's eggs was laid at about 8.30am on Friday 21 March and the second egg followed at about 3.30am on Wednesday 26 March. The third egg arrived at about 5.30pm on Friday 28 March and the fourth arrived in the early hours of Monday 31 March.
