New Chapter members welcomed at special Evensong
09 Jan 2023

Three new members of Norwich Cathedral’s Chapter were welcomed at a special Evensong on Monday 9 January.
During the service, Tim Procter and Liz Wiggins were both installed as Lay Canons of Norwich Cathedral and as Members of Chapter, the governing body of the Cathedral.
Sir Nicholas Bacon KCVO, who has been a Lay Canon of the Cathedral since May 2016, was also installed as a Member of Chapter.

Liz Wiggins – Senior Non-Executive Member of Chapter and Lay Canon
Liz’s connection with the Cathedral began in 2012 when the family moved to Norfolk and her son, Josh, joined the boys’ choir. She and the family became regular worshippers and her daughter, Esther, later joined the girls’ choir. The family moved from Loddon into The Close in 2020.
Liz runs her own business offering coaching, facilitation and change management and is Professor of Change and Leadership at a Business School in Hertfordshire. She is a member of the Diocesan mediation team and Chair of The Matthew Project, a local charity which supports people with mental health, drug and alcohol issues.
Liz has published a number of non-fiction books and has just written a novel which features a cathedral and peregrines. She enjoys listening to music, gardening and discovering new places in our wonderful county. Her husband, Clive is a doctor, specializing in older people’s medicine.

Tim Procter – Non-Executive Member of Chapter and Lay Canon
Tim Procter enjoyed a 39-year career in corporate banking prior to retirement in 2018. Working throughout East Anglia and the eastern region, he has been based in Norwich since 1993.
He was elected a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers in 2000 and served as President of the Norwich Institute. Outside banking, he enjoyed his work with charities including the Norfolk Community Foundation and The Open Youth Trust as well as community bodies such as Visit Norwich and Norwich HEART.
He also served as a school governor in Wymondham and as a director of Norwich Cathedral Enterprises, which has formed an invaluable grounding for his current role as Chairman of the Cathedral's Finance Committee. He lives in Saxlingham Nethergate with partner Elsje and enjoys tennis, squash and golf for relaxation.

Sir Nicholas Bacon KCVO - Non-Executive Member of Chapter and Lay Canon
Sir Nicholas' father was the first High Steward of Norwich Cathedral in the 1960s and so he has enjoyed a very close association with the Cathedral throughout his life.
As Vice Chair of The Duchy of Cornwall, President of the RHS, Chair of a private property company and with a number of both commercial and private Raveningham Estate properties to oversee, he has had experience of all aspects of property investment and practical management. Sir Nicholas was installed as a Lay Canon of the Cathedral in May 2016 and became the Chair of the Cathedral's Property Committee in January 2022.
