Benedictine Art Project - Call to artists
Salary: Fee of £3,000 per artist including materials and production
This is an exciting opportunity for three artists to engage with our Benedictine priorities in the context of the Cathedral precincts, ‘The Close’. In partnership with three local charities - and in association with 'The Rule: Shaping Lives, Medieval and Modern', a major exhibition at the Sainsbury Centre for the Visual Arts at the University of East Anglia - each artist will produce artwork for temporary installation in one of the three selected sites.
The three themes and sites at the Cathedral are:
Hospitality - outside the Hostry, in partnership with English+
Wholeness and healing - Almary Green, in partnership with St Martin's Housing
Contemplative learning - Cloisters, in partnership with the Diocesan Education Team
Three photographs of each of the three sites appear below.
Each artist will each receive a grant of £3,000 supported by the Farmington Institute, Oxford. Each charity expects their chosen artist to work collaboratively with members of the charity’s communities, exploring relevant themes.
