Pilgrim Cellist to perform at Norwich Cathedral as part of 2,000 mile cycle challenge
19 May 2025

Norwich Cathedral will be joining Cathedrals across the country in welcoming poet Kenneth Wilson on his musical adventure with his cello and bicycle.
Kenneth plans to cycle, with his cello, 2,000 miles around 42 Anglican cathedrals, and in 40 of the Cathedrals he will be performing a specially written meditation.
He will be arriving at Norwich Cathedral on Monday 2 June and will be giving a free recital of the Meditation on the Seven Last Words in the Cathedral at 3pm on that day.

The Meditation has been described as a moving evocation of Jesus’s last hours on the cross, combining Kenneth’s short poems with the timeless solo cello music of Bach.
Kenneth said: “It’s more than a religious work, though. The Meditation offers music and poetry that has meaning well beyond that. Even if you’ve never been in a cathedral before, I hope the Meditation – as well as the journey – will speak to you!”
Kenneth added: “I will also be carrying with me seven iconic paintings by abstract artist Gillian Lever, which vividly illustrate the Seven Last Words. They underline the “pilgrimage” element of the 2,000-mile journey, and will be displayed at each cathedral performance.”
Kenneth began his musical pilgrimage on Sunday 18 May and his first performance will be at Newcastle Cathedral on Monday 19 May. He plans to conclude his tour on Friday 4 July at Carlisle Cathedral.
