      10 Apr 2022

A special procession wove its way around Norwich to mark Palm Sunday and the beginning of Holy Week. Norwich Cathedral’s Clergy and Choir joined together with members of St Peter Mancroft Church outside City Hall for the traditional Litany of the Palms on Sunday morning before processing through the city’s streets.

Led by a donkey, the procession passed along Gaol Hill, London Street, Queen Street and Tombland, arriving at Norwich Cathedral for the 10.30am Sung Eucharist.

The Dean of Norwich, the Very Revd Jane Hedges, said: “After two very different years due to the pandemic, it was wonderful to be able to resume our Palm Sunday procession on such a lovely, sunny Sunday morning and we thank all who joined us.

“As we look ahead to the rest of Holy Week and Easter, we hope lots more people will join us for the many events and services taking place at Norwich Cathedral at this very special time of year.”

Among the special services taking place are: At the Foot of the Cross on Good Friday at 11am, the Easter Vigil on Saturday 16 April at 8.30pm, and the Easter Sunday services at 10.30am and 3.30pm.
