New assistant organist appointed

The Dean and Chapter of Norwich Cathedral are pleased to announce the appointment of Robbie Carroll as Assistant Organist. Robbie Carroll, who will be joining the music department at Norwich Cathedral at the end of October, is currently Assistant Director of Music at St Fin Barre’s Cathedral in Cork.

Already a distinguished young organist and experienced choir trainer, Robbie graduated from the Dublin Conservatoire with first class honours, before studying organ at the Hochschule für Music und Tanz in Cologne, Germany. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Organists and an Associate of the London College of Music.

Ashley Grote, the Cathedral’s Master of Music, said “We were absolutely delighted to appoint Robbie as our new Assistant Organist. He impressed us all at audition not only with his excellent playing, but with his great sense of energy and passion for church music, and his warm and personable manner. I know he will be a tremendous asset to the musical life of the cathedral and look forward very much to welcoming him here to join us”.
