All are welcome to attend the funeral service of one of Norwich's great characters. The funeral of John Trethewey will take place at Norwich Cathedral on Wednesday 2 November at 11am.

The Revd Canon Aidan Platten, the Cathedral's Canon Precentor, said: "Norwich has lost one of its great characters of the last forty years – John Trethewey.
"John was a familiar sight in the Forum, at the Station and at the Cathedral, and died suddenly but peacefully on 30 September aged 77. His funeral service will be held in Norwich Cathedral on Wednesday 2 November at 11am. All are very welcome.
"Having been adopted and served in the Army and on fishing trawlers, John returned to Norwich to find his birth family. He became homeless and was cared for by Norwich Cathedral and the Norwich night shelter, and since the mid 1990s he lived at St Martins – now Highwater House - and lived there longer than anyone else."
