Specialist Tour: Monastic Life
01 Apr 2026, 11:15

Norwich Cathedral was founded as a monastic cathedral, a peculiarly English phenomenon in the Middle Ages.
From 1096 to 1538 the Cathedral was home to a community of Benedictine monks, and the Cathedral Close a ‘town within a town’, serving the monks’ needs.
From the monastery's records we can find out about their life, the buildings they used daily, how they used the Cathedral itself and their influence on the city of Norwich.
This tour starts at 11.15am on Wednesday 1 April.
Tickets cost £7 plus a small booking fee.
Please be aware, our special guided tours always sell out quickly so make sure you book a ticket as soon as you can.
