NDPS 106th Annual Exhibition
27 Sept 2022 - 29 Oct 2022
Location: Hostry

With roots that can be traced back to the middle of the 19th century, Norwich and District Photographic Society (NDPS) is one of the oldest photographic societies in the country.
An annual exhibition of the members’ photography has been held every year since the first annual exhibition was held in Norwich for three days from 17 March 1904. The only exceptions being during the two world wars and more recently due to the Covid pandemic.
NDPS are, therefore, excited to be returning to the prestigious and historic surrounding of the Hostry at Norwich Cathedral where NDPS exhibitions have for many years been showcased.

Today, NDPS has members of all ages who work in all kinds of industries and professions, whose photographic skills range from beginners starting out on their photographic journey through to seasoned experienced photographers.
The 106th Annual Exhibition features new works from this diverse group of photographers and demonstrates the range and breadth of their shared joy for photography.
This year’s exhibition is also in memory of Mike Trendell, who died in March last year, and has been designated the ‘Mike Trendell Memorial Exhibition’. A stalwart and a giant of the Society for nearly 50 years, Mike was first elected Chairman in 1979-80 and again from 2001-2002, and he served as President of the Society from 1984-1986. Mike was, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the Society over many years, elected an Honorary Member in 2019. As Exhibition Secretary, Mike organised the Society’s Annual Exhibition at Norwich Cathedral in the North Transept for many years prior to the new Hostry Exhibition space opening. Mike was also a recognised authority on religious architecture, with his photographs being widely displayed in specialist photographic exhibitions organised by, for example, The Royal Photographic Society and the Cathedral here in Norwich.
Alongside the Annual Exhibition, NDPS is once more holding the successful Open Public Photography Competition that awards three local photographers and one junior photographer from our local community the opportunity to have one of their photographs exhibited in the exhibition.
The members of NDPS are all looking forward to greeting the many familiar faces who regularly attend our Annual Exhibition and of course to meeting new friends. You can find out much more about the Society and its members at www.ndps.info or follow NDPS on Facebook at @ndpsinfocus.
The exhibition runs from Tuesday 27 September until Saturday 29 October and is open daily from 10am to 4.30pm (11am to 3pm on Sundays). Entry is free.
