Cally Hammond Biography
Cally Hammond studied ancient history and literature before becoming ordained in 1998.
After serving as a parish priest in Bedfordshire, in 2005 she was appointed Dean of Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge, where she teaches Latin translation.
She has published a trilogy of books on prayer (Passionate Christianity*, Joyful Christianity, Glorious Christianity) and a book on liturgy, (The Sound of the Liturgy: how Words Work in Worship). Her new edition and translation of the Confessions of St Augustine was published in 2014-16, and followed up with new editions and translations of Augustine’s works The Teacher and Teaching Christianity(2025). Her book on Augustine for study groups, Augustine’s Life of Prayer, Learning And Love is published by the Bible Reading Fellowship.
