Good Friday
03 Apr 2026

Good Friday is when we remember the trial and crucifixion of Jesus Christ. This year Good Friday falls on Friday 3 April.
This is a solemn day for all Christians when we remember how Jesus died on the cross to save all people from their sins, and to restore their relationship with God. It reveals both the extent of humankind's cruelty and the depth of God's love.
Marking Good Friday's solemnity, the Cathedral is stripped of its furnishings, no candles are lit, and our shop and café are closed.
You are welcome to quietly explore the Cathedral, and we encourage you to find time to pause and consider the significance of this day. You are also warmly invited to join us for one, or more, of our services today:
8am Morning Prayer
11am At the Foot of the Cross
A gathering for all ages
1pm Good Friday Meditation
2pm Solemn Liturgy - click here to watch live stream
The Liturgy of Good Friday with Veneration of the Cross
5.30pm Evening Prayer
Although the first disciples thought the death of Jesus on the Cross was the end of the story, it was not. There is a love stronger than death. To discover the joy of this mystery, we invite you to also join us for our Easter services.
