Norwich Cathedral is delighted to welcome Paddington to the Cathedral Close and we hope everyone enjoys visiting him!
Celebrating everyone’s favourite marmalade-loving bear!
The beloved bear can be found sitting on a bench near to the Cathedral’s Herb Garden, clutching one of his famous marmalade sandwiches and waiting to meet visitors young and old!
The special statue is one of 24 dotted around the UK and Ireland as part of the Paddington Visits trail celebrating the little bear from Peru and the release of STUDIOCANAL’S Paddington in Peru movie.
Paddington’s warm welcome to Norwich
Paddington has taken up residence in Norwich thanks to the amazing efforts of Norwich BID and everyone from schoolchildren to shop keepers who wrote heartfelt entries encouraging Paddington to pay a visit to our fine city!
The first 23 statues in the Paddington Visits trail popped up in other parts of the UK and Ireland last October, and the wonderful messages Paddington received from the people of Norwich led to the city winning a competition to give an exceptional home to the 24th statue.
Where to find Paddington in The Close
Paddington is perched on a bench near to the Cathedral’s Herb Garden.
If you enter the Cathedral Close by walking through the Ethelbert Gate, you just need to follow the road straight ahead and you will find Paddington on the left before you reach the Herb Garden.
Please take care as you walk through the Close and be mindful of passing vehicles of Close residents. Please also note that we are not able to accommodate parking for general visitors in The Close.
