      Public worship announcement welcomed

      23 Jun 2020

The Dean of Norwich, the Very Revd Jane Hedges, has welcomed the announcement from Prime Minister Boris Johnson that church buildings can resume public worship from July 4.

The Dean of Norwich said: "We are delighted the Prime Minister has announced that public worship can resume in church buildings from July 4.

The Norwich Cathedral team is working hard to ensure we can resume public worship in a safe way. We will announce more details of our plans soon."

In the meantime, the Cathedral continues to be open daily from 10am until 4pm for individual prayer. A one-way system, hand cleaning facilities and a number of other measures are in place to ensure visitors are as safe as possible.

Throughout the Coronavirus pandemic, the Cathedral’s Clergy have, in safe ways, been continuing the Cathedral’s traditional daily rhythm of worship.

A video service led by one of the members of the Clergy is published on the Norwich Cathedral Services YouTube Channel every Sunday morning.

Every week booklets for Morning and Evening Prayer are also published on the Cathedral website for people to follow at home, and people can also email prayers to prayers@cathedral.org.uk

On Wednesdays at 12 noon, a member of Norwich Cathedral's clergy alone holds a Requiem to remember departed loved ones.
