Peregrine chicks hatch on Cathedral spire

      27 Apr 2020

There's some egg-citing news from the top of the Norwich Cathedral spire as three of the Peregrine Falcon chicks have hatched. This year four eggs were laid and the Cathedral's resident peregrine falcons have been taking it in turns to incubate the eggs over the last few weeks.

Two chicks hatched in Sunday afternoon and the third chick was spotted this morning.

The Hawk and Owl Trust, which has sent us this first picture of one of the falcons and their chicks, expects the fourth chick to hatch this afternoon.

The Hawk and Owl Trust is giving people a window into the world of the Cathedral's resident peregrine falcons thanks to an online live video stream from the nesting box.

Due to the Coronavirus situation, the trust's usual watchpoint in the Lower Close has been postponed until further notice, but people can still keep up to date with the birds of prey via the special 24/7 nest cam.

The Hawk and Owl Trust volunteers are also doing an online blog to report all of the daily activities from the nest.
