Pancake Race Fun
04 Mar 2025

There was lots of pancake flipping fun at Norwich Cathedral to celebrate Shrove Tuesday.
Armed with their frying pans, the Cathedral’s boy and girl choristers had a great time taking part in the traditional Pancake Day races in the Cloister.
The Pancake Day tradition has a long history and started because Shrove Tuesday was the last opportunity to use up eggs and fats before embarking on the Lenten fast.
Ash Wednesday marks the start of the Lenten journey ahead of Easter, and during this time all are welcome to join in with Norwich Cathedral’s many special services and events.
Among the highlights is Norwich Cathedral Choir, Norwich Cathedral Chamber Choir and Norwich Baroque’s performance of Bach’s St Matthew Passion on Saturday 12 April.
