Norwich Cathedral welcomes the Japanese Ambassador
22 May 2026

Norwich Cathedral was delighted to welcome the Japanese Ambassador, His Excellency Hiroshi F. Suzuki, during his visit to Norwich in May.
The Ambassador was greeted by the Dean of Norwich, the Very Revd Dr Andrew Braddock, who showed him some of the Cathedral’s highlights, including the Japanese garden adjacent to the Hostry building.
The tour was part of the Ambassador’s visit to the Sainsbury Institute for the Study of Japanese Arts and Cultures (SISJAC), which is based in the Cathedral Close, and is recognised as an international centre of excellence.
Dean Andrew said: "It was an honour to greet the Ambassador and his party and to celebrate the links between Norwich and Japan. SISJAC does internationally significant work and they are a valued part of the Cathedral Close community."
