Art in the Close
Exhibition runs until 29 Apr 2026
Location: Cathedral Close

Ancient architecture and contemporary sculpture combine in an exciting exhibition of outdoor art at Norwich Cathedral.
Art in the Close runs until Wednesday 29 April 2026 and sees the Cathedral Close become the inspirational setting for a mix of works by artists Lynn Chadwick and John Maine.
The free open-air exhibition is planned to be the first in a new rolling programme of art at the Cathedral and it will give visitors the chance to enjoy discovering works in three different areas of the Close.

Lynn Chadwick’s angular steel work Sitting Figures, 1989, can be spotted in the Lower Close.
The Cloister hosts two of John Maine’s striking stone works, with a further seven abstract sculptures by the artist on display in Almary Green, near the main entrance to the Cathedral Close at the Ethelbert Gate.
An exhibition guide featuring a map of all the artworks is available for just £2 from the Cathedral Shop.
Please note that the Cloister closes at 6pm every day but the Lower Close and Almary Green are open in the evening.
After the Art in the Close exhibition closes, visitors will be able to enjoy the Lynn Chadwick sculpture for a little longer as the work will remain in The Close until the end of August 2026.
